Stefania Pepe, an organic and biodynamic winemaker from Abruzzo, Italy, is in NYC this week — presenting her wines at VINO 2011.

Biodynamic winemaking includes working with the principles of anthroposophy to produce organic wines from grapes that are free of synthetic chemical fertilizers, sulfer dioxide and yeast.

Ms. Pepe’s white (Trebbiano) grapes are harvested manually and crushed by feet (with boots on). Her red (Montepulciano) grapes are also picked by hand.

A lot of work goes into each bottle. The wine is truly unique, satisfying and healthful. For Stefania Pepe it’s all about “amore.”
