Pavla Niklova, Director of Czech Center New York, in front of the IFC Center — before the opening of Disappearing Act IV European Film Festival in New York.
The festival will showcase 25 contemporary films from across Europe, in three Manhattan venues, from April 11-22.
In her remarks Ms. Niklova said: “Our (European) economy sucks but we are great in culture.”
The opening night feature was “Das System”, by Marc Bauder. The film explores reunification and generational issues in contemporary Germany, with the Stasi still being felt.
Mr. Bauder and Dorte Frank (screenwriter) were on hand.
