New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg whistled the start of this year’s German-American Steuben Parade. He is flanked by Grand Marshals Norbert Schramm & Nik Wallenda, along with Parade Chairman Lars Halter and Consul General Busso von Alvensleben. Carol Alt was on hand in the TV booth. An Oktoberfest followed in Central Park.

German-American Day in NYC offered a glimpse into a better more whole world. To borrow from German philosopher Edith Stein — there was plenty of “participation in being” on display. Our favorite beers were the Spaten (Oktoberfestbier), Gakkel Kolsh and Jever Pilsner. As usual Air Berlin did a great job with hospitality.
