KenCurrie (2)Flowers Gallery in NYC is presenting new paintings by Scottish artist Ken Currie (photo). This body of work, with notes of Velazquez and Stephen King, is grotesque and profound, dealing with portraiture and power in the age of surveillance cameras and selfies. Too bad it wasn’t in The Armory Art Show.

The gallery’s owner, Matthew Flowers, told LE that once again his gallery was denied access. We suspect it may have something to do with Flowers Gallery holding exhibits in recent years for artists whose work exposed the horrors of Guantanamo. Perhaps the gallery has been blacklisted, as America’s anarchists (even in the art world) become fascists.
